Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. It is the southernmost city in the world and it is known as “The city of the end of the world” .
The Port is located on the northwest Bay of Ushuaia and consists of a commercial dock (which has been considerably extended) and The Orion Terminal. Ushuaia is also naval base for Navy ships of Argentina.
The commercial dock, with SSE orientation, provides a front mooring of 640 m in the south and 517 m in the north, with additional mooring point (dolphin) located 28 m away from the dock; with a width of 28 m., the depth aside is 9.40 / 9.70 m to the east and 4.60 / 4.90 m westward. The dock allows the mooring of several vessels simultaneously, including passenger ships, container carriers, general cargo ships, fishing, icebreaker expeditions to Antarctica, etc..
The Orion Terminal is located approximately 0.8 km NE of the commercial dock. It is a narrow berth in a "T" at 85 m from the coast with a tie-front of 30 m with an access width of 10 m. and moorings (dolphins) extended. Usually used by coastal tankers for crude oil discharge to ground storage tanks, for local consumption of Tierra del Fuego.
